Staff Spotlight: Alicia Ingersoll

Our next new staff member we are welcoming for the 2019-20 season is (the newly married) Mrs Alicia! We are honored to have her on our staff! You will see below that she has a vast amount of experience and will be a great addition to our team at RISE!

What is your background in dance?  What expertise to you bring to RISE?

I have a background in multiple styles of dance including: ballet, jazz, lyrical, modern, contemporary, tap, clogging, hip hop, and musical theatre. I also have an extensive background in classical training in acting and vocal performance. These experiences help me bring a well rounded performance to my students. I bring years of experience and teaching training to RISE. I am receiving a degree in theatre education and am a certified teacher in the state of Texas.

How many years have you been dancing/teaching dance?

I started dancing at the age of three. When I graduated high school I had received classical dance training for sixteen years. After high school I moved to more of a musical theatre style of dance and fitness dance training. I have been teaching dance for eight years including young combo classes, adult classes, competitive team classes and choreography, dance fitness classes and musical choreography.

What is your favorite dance style?

My favorite style of dance is clogging. Clogging is a mixture of Irish step dancing, line dancing, and tap. I began clogging at the age of seven and I have never stopped. Clogging gives me a sense of freedom when I dance and allows me to express my explosive personality.

What is your dream vacation?

My dream vacation is to go to Disneyland in Paris, France. I love Disney with everything. And I would love to see the French culture that is brought into Disneyland Paris.

What can you cook to perfection?

Meatballs, I make them from scratch. The key is to not measure anything just know the smell of the right combination.

What inspires you?

My family inspires me. My parents and brother have always supported me with anything I wanted to do or accomplish.

If you could grow up in any decade, which would you choose?

The 80s for sure. The music was great, the hair was higher and makeup allowed you to wear wild colors.

What song do you know all the lyrics to?

I know all of the lyrics to every song from the musical Wicked.

Do you have any hidden or weird talents?

I can spin flags, rifle, and sabers.

What are some pets you’ve had or would like to own?

I have two adorable dachshunds. Their names are Hope and Mickey. Mickey is a piebald dachshund with three black spots on his back that look like a Mickey head. And Hope is my little girl dachshund.

If you could pass on any wisdom to your students, what would you share?

The hardest critic is yourself. So don’t believe anyone’s cruel words, believe in yourself.
